The Background

Giano Capital is a European venture capital firm with offices spanning Milan, London, Geneva, and Monte Carlo. The firm operates at the frontier of private markets — specifically pioneering last-stage single asset secondaries in Europe. Their investment thesis is focused on the most critical window of a company's journey: the final sprint to exit.

Their portfolio reflects this conviction, with stakes in some of Europe's highest-growth tech companies including Revolut, GetYourGuide, Preply, Zopa, Marshmallow, and Finn. Led by founding partners with decades of operational and investment experience Giano Capital brings serious pedigree to every investment.

The Challenge

When they came to Missing Piece Studio, they had recently undergone a comprehensive rebrand. Their brand identity had been refreshed with new visual language, updated guidelines, and a sharper positioning. What was lagging behind was their website. It did not anymore reflect who they were, what they stood for, or the calibre of their portfolio.

They needed a new digital home that could keep pace with their ambition.

Specific challenges included:

  1. No dedicated pages for Investment Strategy, Portfolio, Team, or Resources — all critical for discovery and founder outreach
  2. A recently completed rebrand with no equivalent web expression
  3. Venture capital as an industry is visually constrained, so the design had to carry the premium feel through layout, typography, and hierarchy alone
  4. A hard, immovable deadline driven by a major investor event

The Solution

Our process began with a structured discovery phase. We sent Giano Capital a detailed questionnaire designed to extract everything they needed to communicate — their investment philosophy, fund focus, team credentials, portfolio companies, and the audiences they were speaking to. We also received their full suite of new branding and marketing assets to ensure we understood their visual language before a single frame was designed.

Phase 1: The Interim Homepage

Competitor and market research followed. We analysed a curated set of European VC and private equity firm websites (including references the client provided) to understand the visual conventions and content expectations in this category. This research directly informed both our structural and aesthetic decisions.

Phase 1: The Interim Homepage

Given the hard deadline, we made a decisive early call: launch an interim homepage first. This ensured Giano Capital had a credible, on-brand presence live as quickly as possible, capturing any form submissions or inbound traffic while the full site was in production.

Site Architecture & Strategy

We moved beyond the one-pager model and architected a multi-page website covering everything the firm needed to communicate. The sitemap includes: Homepage, Investment Strategy, Portfolio, Team, Resources (with sub-sections for White Papers & Research, Events & Webinars, and News & Industry Updates), and Contact.

Each page was structured to serve a specific audience intent — the Investment Strategy page articulates the firm's last-stage secondaries thesis clearly and confidently; the Portfolio page showcases their champion companies; the Team page gives Founding Partners the full-length bios their credibility demands.

Design Approach: The VC Aesthetic

The design challenge was specific to the industry: venture capital does not lend itself to visual excess. There are no product photos, lifestyle imagery, or dense illustration styles. The layout had to carry the premium feel on its own through typographic hierarchy, structured white space, deliberate colour usage, and the subtle motion of purposeful animations.

We implemented the new Giano Capital branding with precision, adapting it for the constraints and opportunities of the web — a different medium to print or social, with its own rules around legibility, scroll behaviour, and responsive layout.

Technical Build

The site was built entirely on Webflow, with a scalable design system and CMS architecture established from the start. This means Giano Capital can independently update their portfolio listings, add team members, publish white papers, and post news and events, without touching a line of code.

To support the team's independence post-launch, we recorded and delivered a comprehensive set of video tutorials walking through every update workflow in the CMS. The handover was treated as a deliverable in its own right.

FAQs

Quick answers to common questions we hear from founders and marketing teams.

Do you use templates or design from scratch?

We design every site from scratch, tailored to your brand, positioning, and business goals. No templates.

What if we don't like the initial design direction?

That's what the strategy and wireframe phases are for (to align on direction before we invest in visual design). If something's off, we course-correct early. Even after this we provide unlimited revisions so you get exactly what you want.

Can you match the style of a specific website?

We don't copy other websites, but we definitely take inspiration from sites you love. During discovery, we'll discuss visual references, design preferences, and what resonates with you and then create something uniquely yours.

What about SEO? How do you handle that?

We build SEO best practices into every site (proper redirects, optimized page structure, fast load times, and clean technical implementation). We take care to preserve your existing SEO value and improve it where possible.

Do you work with companies outside your time zone?

Absolutely. We work with clients globally and have systems in place for seamless collaboration and regular sync-ups that work across time zones.

How do you handle the communication?

You'll have a live project dashboard, regular updates, and scheduled collaborative touchpoints at every phase. You'll always know what's happening and what's next.

Why Webflow instead of WordPress or custom code?

Webflow gives you the best of both worlds: design flexibility and performance of custom code, with the ease of a visual CMS you can actually use. It's faster to build, easier to maintain, and performs better than WordPress. Plus, you won't need a developer for every small update.

What do you need from us to get started?

Access to key stakeholders for discovery, existing brand assets (if available), and clarity on your business goals. We'll guide you through everything else in our structured process.

What if we need custom functionality or integrations?

We handle custom integrations with your CRM, analytics, marketing automation, forms, chat tools, and more. If you have specific functionality needs, we'll address them during discovery and build them into the scope.

Can we update the site ourselves after launch?

Absolutely. That's the beauty of Webflow. We build your site with a CMS structure that makes it easy for you to add blog posts, update content, and make changes without touching code. We also provide training during handoff.

Do you provide analytics setup and tracking?

Yes. We integrate analytics tools (Google Analytics, etc.) and can help set up conversion tracking, goals, and event tracking so you can measure what matters from day one.

What happens if something breaks after launch?

This rarely happens, and in case it does we provide post-launch support to handle any technical issues.

How much does a typical project cost?

Our projects typically range from $1,000 to $8,000 depending on scope and complexity. We provide custom quotes after understanding your specific needs and goals.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. We structure payments around project milestones, not all upfront. This reduces risk and ensures you're paying as we deliver value throughout the process.

How do you measure success?

We define success metrics during discovery — whether that's improved conversion rates, increased qualified leads, clearer positioning, or faster load times. We build with those goals in mind and provide recommendations for tracking performance post-launch.

Do you only work with SaaS and Service companies?

Our sweet spot is SaaS platforms, marketing agencies, consulting firms, IT services, and B2B service companies. If you're in a related space and serve B2B buyers, we're likely a great fit.

What makes you different from other agencies?

Three things:

(1) Domain expertise in SaaS and B2B,
(2) Design psychology obsession that drives every decision, and
(3) Transparent, collaborative process with complete accountability.

We're strategic partners, not vendors.

What if we're not happy with the work?

Our process is built on collaboration and alignment at every phase. If something's off, we address it immediately, not after launch. That said, if there's ever a fundamental misalignment, we'll work to make it right or part ways professionally.

Can we see examples of your process in action before committing?

Yes. During our discovery call, we can walk you through case studies, show you deliverable examples from each phase, and give you a clear picture of what working together looks like.

Will we work directly with the founder, or an account manager?

You'll work directly with Jahid (founder) and our core team. No layers of account managers. No being passed around. Just direct access to the people doing the strategic thinking and execution.
